Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy is Safe and Efficient when Performed on Early Adolescents with Adult-Sized Tools

Aim: To report our experience of percutaneous nephtrolithotomy using adult size instruments in young adolescents. Study design: Retrospective case series Place and duration study: Department Urology, Isra University Hospital Hyderabad between 1st January 2006 December 2016, Methodology: Twenty five adolescents underwent nephrolithotomy were enrolled. The records patients the ages 10 15 years at institute was examined. performed a 24-Frnephroscope. Stone burden location reviewed. clearance reviewed after surgery. Renal units with ≤4mm residual stone on postoperative imaging considered free. Results: Mean age 12±2 yrs. Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotomy (ESWL) required 4 one patient had retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) for stones. total percentage stones removed 84% (21/25). One group factor VII deficiency, another kidney horseshoe shape, third post-pyelolithotomy Three needed blood transfusions, experienced transitory urine leakage more than 12 hours. There no complications that medical or surgical attention. Conclusion: Percutaneous is safe effective. Adult can be used safely nephtrolithromy this patients.
